Rodd would have waited to allow Rosey to finish her game of darts with her new friend, but Colin had other ideas; he stuck out his hand to the other dart player and introduced himself: "Hello, I'm Colin, and this is my friend Rodd...you a friend of Rosey's then?"
The man didn't look exactly pleased, but extended a hand reluctantly. "Name's Tim...we were just playing a game for my table...."
Rodd looked about, but saw no empty spots anywhere near. "Seems you've lost it already--there's nae empty spots now." He turned to Colin, unsure of what the group should do now.
The dark-haired englishman looked around, and pointed to a door near the back. "I think there might be a spot in there...it's a smoke-free room, so it's often less crowded."
Tim looked like he had swallowed a lemon, perhaps several, but Colin put a hand on his shoulder in comradely fashion. "Why don't you join us, Tim? It's only Rosey, my brother Crispin and Rodd here--we'd welcome the company!"
Rodd saw the glint of mischief in Colin's eye--he was up to something again, but he couldn't make out what it was...an attempt at irritating Crispin, or something more? Colin would give him no hints as he began to lead the way toward the back of the barroom.
"We can still see the door, so we won't miss Crispin when he comes in...couldn't have that, could we Rosey?"
