Of course, the very term "Varangian way" refers to the people of Scandinavian origin who travelled to this part of the world. So it seems pretty obvious that they should be referred to when we know they do play a role. Kind of an Ariadne's thread in a way :-)
But again, my issue at this point is a very practical one: I have already started the write-up for Novgorod and Kiev, and to be honest, the Varangians play a significant role in the very early years at best and, like you said Norv, it is still a matter of debate. I don't see how I can focus my write-ups on the Vikings when there's very little known about their exact role and the scope of it, compared to all the material about the cities available
My suggestion would be to do a normal write-up that presents facts as we know them about the cities without any particular focus, but to have a board dedicated to the Vikings and their role in those various places. Would that be ok?
