(1) Research your hood.
(2) If there is already text describing the hood, check for accuracy and detail. If the material that has been posted appears to be accurate, consider whether amplification is necessary. Consider adding citations to sources and links to online sources.
(3) Find graphics that won't violate copyright if we use them--even better--create your own graphics (if you have that skill). Graphics work better at AW if you use gif files.
(4) Upload your graphics to your image gallery.
(5) Write up the text you want to use, including the html tags. Test your work. (You can use your own web pages. If you don't have webpages, you can get free server space at various places, including geocities.com. If you don't want to set up webpages, you can test your work at AW. I do this all the time on the test thread in the ResPublica Romana group. I call the post "Test" and then I just delete it when I'm finished editing. I would suggest that if you run into problems with a test post, edit the post to remove all content. Then delete it. Caveat, you can't test backgrounds for the hoods this way.)
(6) Send your work to me, or to any of the Roman scribes. Include the html tags. You can email me at mariamarius @ hotmail.com (only take out those spaces!)
(7) If you don't know how to do one of the above steps, contact me or any of the Roman scribes and discuss the matter so that we can help you.
Adding Backgrounds, etc. to your hood:
Some people like the black background and the golden text that is the standard at AW. Some people want to use different colors for the text or perhaps unusual fonts. Some people want to create special backgrounds. Some want to use boxes to set off portions of the text.
All of this is possible with the hoods. If you don't know how to do these things, any of the scribes can help you. (If its something we don't know how to do, we can get help from somebody who is able to explain things – and then we'll all know how to do it!)
