In the June 2006 issue of Smithsonian magazine, there is a very interesting article on the history of human habitation in Arizona's Grand Canyon. There is a tantalizing photograph of a portion of a 60 foot rock art panel found in a side canyon which depicts human figures and has been dated to 1000 BCE.
