is also an alternative name for the Persian.
This breed is best known for being extremely laid back, some would even describe them as couch potatoes! Trinidad Tobago, mostly known as Trini
I don't entirely agree with this, as I have a Siberian (again longhaired) and Persian mix, who thinks she's a dog, as she loves playing fetch! Though obviously, this photo belies my previous statement!
(Before you say anything, I also have a friend who has 2 pure bred Persians, whose fluffy behinds hardly sit still!)
Quick breed history
The first documented ancestors of the Longhair were imported from Persia (hence the name) into Italy in 1620 by Pietro della Valle, and from Turkey into France by Nicholas-Claude Fabri de Peirsc, at around the same.
For the next two centuries, their descendants, (the cats not the importers!)were staus symbol pets.
By the late 1800's breed standard guidelines produced essentially the type of Persian we know today.
