not Victory but for the goddess of Yorkshire (northern Britain), Verbeia. According to Anne Ross's book on Pagan Celtic Britain, "Verbeia is seemingly connected with the River Wharfe and is likely that she was some kind of spring goddess...appears with a disproportionately large head, wearing a pleated dress which reaches her feet and holding in either hand a sinuous object, undoubtedly meant to represent serpents."
Or, hmm, maybe that sinuous object was actually that mystical silver branch that was going around here on Beltaine.
Anyway, V is for Verbeia!
