No, this isn't Europe. This is Culpeper, Virginia, a small town on the way to other places. From what I read in the local paper after I took these photos, some guy there has a thing for gargoyles and is working with building owners to install more of them on the old buildings in the main business district. I was glad to read that they're a new addition, since I wondered how many times I'd looked up when I was there and never noticed this snarling thing. I'm going back there Saturday, so I'll certainly be looking for a new one.
These pictures were made with the digital camera, which has a black/white setting in it, and fortunately a fine zoom, since the gargoyle is atop a 4 story building and I was on the sidewalk across the street.
