...but never quite reaching it. Margaret O'Fallon's dreams of fame have taken many shapes. It doesn't help that she's an usherette and cigarette girl at a local theatre. Glued to the screen every night, Meg dreams of one day becoming a film star, playing opposite legends like Douglas Fairbanks, Rudy Valentino, Gary Cooper, and Simon Niall.
Her first "big break" comes when she auditions for a new club called The Velvet Glove and is hired to be part of the floorshow. She's not a full-timer yet, but it's better than nothing. Someone ought to notice her right away, in such a popular place as this.
She hasn't made a lot of friends here yet, but the pianist (an eleven-fingered man called Ned "Eleven" Treleven) has suggested that she stick with the stage name Torch Song since she does well singing sentimental ballads. She admittedly has difficulty seeing boring old "Margaret O'Fallon" in lights.
