Yum Balam means Father Jaguar and is the name of the spirit that protects the k'ax or the forrest. In Yucatan they call it the "monte" You lived in Chicxulub? The coast... how nice. I lived in Dzemul, not far from there. I did archaeology at the Northeast Maya salt producing site called X'cambo in 2000. A great experience...
