This is sort of social but also a bit informative *LOL* I just recently saw a program about a Roman doctor by the name of Galen. Rather fascinating stuff. Apparently he was way ahead of his time in terms of medicne. I was astounded at how closely a lot of the roman medical tools closely resembled the modern ones we use today. Can you believe they even had the skills for removing cateracts from the eyes? Everything was extremely fascinating! I think there was mention too about how the roman version of a hospital was surprisingly modern too but unfortunately I can't recall everything since I was also on the computer at the time.
