Greta and John danced for hours, in the quest to ease the fears of her dear friend she too grew comfortable and even happy. When the night of dancing was over, and the drinks were finally finished, John lead her away to the guest rooms.
“You look a thousand years younger Greta.” John complimented, the music from the ballroom echoing to the staircase.
“So I do. Oh, it is simply wonderful that I’ve seen you again. I haven’t felt so free in a long while.” Greta sighed as she leaned against John’s chest. Smoothing the red hair from atop her head, he felt Greta smile against his chest.
“Why, you’re smiling aren’t you. I thought you were too old for that.” John teased. Greta grinned, falling slightly off balance,
“Not in the least. I am as young as...well I am. I’m only twenty you know.” Greta giggled and before she was able to fall from her treacherous shoes, John lifted her.
“Only twenty. Well, I’m afraid midnight has come and gone, are you sure you aren’t going to turn into some dream of mine.” Greta’s eyes shone happily as she laid a kiss tentatively on his lips.
“Nope. You’re still my sweet prince, and I’m still your enchanted princess. You better kiss me back before I disappear.” And John O’Shea did so, with a vigor that sent Greta’s heart racing.
“And now, I must make you disappear, until the morning anyway.” John stated.
“Oh, don’t leave. I feel so safe with you.” Greta pleaded and linked her arms around John’s neck.
“I won’t darling, I won’t.” He kissed her a final time and carried her towards her room. After depositing Greta on her bed, he sat in a nearby chair to watch her sleep.
