Forgoing the martial practice,
With soles tender as a baby's,
Hakuin dances on the tip of the spear.
The tango, the foxtrot, the funky chicken,
All without a single scratch
Because he first buried the weapon
Until the point was flush with the ground.
For it isn't the point that's dangerous,
It's the rest of the spear that gives one pause.
After ten minutes, with a final pirouette to finish,
Hakuin makes a mighty leap
And lands at his destination:
The Isle of Skye
House of Sushi
Conveniently located 10 feet away,
And orders his favourite dish.
Not every salmon is wise:
Many end up on rice
Next to a dollop of wasabi.
