    I think the independence of the Aetolians for example, was a sham as well. After The Second Macedonian War, their " allies", The Romans decided what they should keep and what they should give back; is this independence? I must maintain that no nation which has a master is a democratic nation, by definition. The ultimate power is not with the people and it is dependant upon the will of another nation, not the will of its people.This,to me, is not a true democracy.
