The esteemed Julius provided a calendar that lasted a millennium. However, with its imperfections, a “Gregorian” alternative eventually arose. The significance of the choices we make with calendars goes beyond the civil realm to the religious. The Church of the West (Roman Catholic and Protestant churches) and the Church of the East (the Orthodox Patriarchates) have long celebrated the holiest of events (Easter/Pascha) on different days because of this matter...
