OK, I was working midnight to 8 this morning with my second job and am still up, thanks to LOTS of strong coffee and some nice cherry turnovers, so....

Oreos. Never could get into them. Now, chocolate chip cookies or Pecan Sandies...

Political correctitude. Nope. This summer I pissed off a few on the Classics L listserv on something or the other and was accused of "writing with a sneer." It only got worse when I responded "You write that as if it were a bad thing." I made it even worse last night when everyone was falling all over themselves about the high tech imaging of some previously unreadable bits from the Oxyrhynchus papyri. Seems as though some new bits of a lost play of Sophocles have turned up and everyone is all a twitter over what might be next. I simply observed, "What if most turn out to be just the ancient equivalent of 'The Bridges of Madison County'?" BANG! That went over well... BTW, the super-duper, high tech imaging is being done by Brigham Young University. I suppose the next step will be proxy baptism of all the ancient authors into the Mormon cult.

So now I'm running some laundry and amusing myself with endless blather on Fox News about the papal vote. "OOOOOH! Loook! There's smoke! Is it white? Noooo, a little, ummm gray---nooo, now it's DEFINITELY charcoal..." I suppose we should be happy Diebold isn't involved or that there is no Latin word for "chads." Ask Maria nicely about her favorite candidate.
