Who could have believed it….Me, Waha Horemheb, country boy from Gebtu, winner of the Min-climb back home, here in the big smoke of Alexandria. The streets ! The women ! The stalls ! The women ! The business ! The women !The traffic ! The women ! The people ! Ah…..this is the life.
Now this is the street, but where’s the Bar O I was told to find ?
Oh, excuse me, lady…..how much ?...no, I don’t think so…..
Hmmm…here’s the Bar O. Tight security on the door. Don’t like the way that guy’s eyeing me, but I’m in.
Bit dark in here. And smoky ! And noisy.
Ah, there they are, down the end. There’s my mistress, and Senenmut, him who was the High Priest of Min, and the fat Greek who owned the shop with its rip-off prices, and I think that’s the Lady NahehAakhu from memory…..I don’t think they’ve seen me.
Em hotep, priest. What do you want here?
A little more courtesy, if you please, barman.
Sorry, your majesty, smirked the man behind the bar. How can I help you ?
I’m with the party of Senenmut Hatshepsut.
The guard’s attitude changed. Ah yes. Five bedroom booking.
I might just go to my room straightaway.
What about your friends ? They’re just over there.
“Later.”
Very well. Upstairs. I think you’ll find Lord Senenmut’s housekeeper there already, checking things over.
Oh no ! Not that old waterfowl MinaMina ! Don’t tell me she’s here. I suppose that crocodile of a man of his is here, too….Ahkmin.
