Salve, quae. Caesar!
I trust all goes well with you in Achaea? Things are very quiet here in Gallia. So far, we have made several patrols in the waters off Gallia without incident. Our merchants ply the waters without fear. While I long for action, I am pleased that our trade is undisturbed.
As to my ability to support Valeria, be assured, as the my father's eldest son, I will inherit our properties in Italy. That will provide a steady source of income for my family. Additionally, I have other ventures underway that presently support me. I can only assure you, Caesar, that I will do all I can in my power to provide for the comfort and well-being of your niece, my (hopefully) future wife. She is very dear to me and her happiness is my first concern.
Take care, Caesar. Fortuna smile on you in battle and life.
Ursus Longinus, quaestor Gallia Transalpina.
