From the journalistic article..."According to history books, Bao An Pagoda, built during the Tran dynasty on the left bank of Thien Duc river in Trung village of Duong Quang commune, Gia Lam district, Ha Noi, played an important role in the development of Thang Long-Ha Noi. The pagoda was once a major centre for Viet Nam's Buddhism and was one of only two Buddhist research institutes in northern Viet Nam but the Bao An today is just a small structure located next to a crowded residential quarter. However, local people still talk about how big the pagoda was in the past, with hundreds of structures and with the main building covering 1,000 sq.m on a small hill to the west of the existing pagoda."
