Lucius Julius Longinus looked across the plain to the walls of Carissa. He was troubled, though relieved, that the scouts had not encountered any enemy troops during their march. He gave the order for the legions to make camp, a more permanent one. Trenches were to be dug around the perimeter and the earth used to build up the ramparts. There was a small grove a short distance away and troops, with an cavalry detachment, were sent to cut wood for the walls. Lucius watched the activity and soon the camp was roughly laid out. He was anxious to have at least the walls and tents up before the sun set. Calling for his senior legate, Lucius ordered sentries to be posted through the night.
OOC: Please advise of any enemy activity. In the event of a night attack, the sentries will sound an alarm to rouse the legions. During daylight hours, cavalry scouts in groups of 25 are sent out to scout out the lay of the land. Additionally, foot troops will also forage for food.
