    It is not the first time that I read disparaging comments have been made about that scene. If I remember well, this one was of those that sparked the most controversy at the time of the FOTR's release when it was debated over at theOneRing, and probably at most forums. I agree with the comments made till now, to which I would add this. There is this theme of nature (associated with the Hobbits and the Elves)vs. industry (associated with Saruman), in particular metal industry, that, although it is rarely addressed in words, is obvious enough, especially in the first two movies. I think her metal corset, in complete opposition to her white lace dress that seems so natural on her, serves also as a visual reminder of this undercurrent theme, that has just been hinted at as we watched in Galadriel's Mirror with Frodo
