Being a history buff since the age of 10, I don't comprehend the near universal negative criticism of this movie. I heard the Greek government is upset with the depictions of Alexander's bisexuality, in spite of the fact that it has been common knowledge since ancient times, and no secret to any history student or classicist.I actually heard fellow audience members (mostly guys) groan when the m2m sex scenes were shown, showing just how far our post-pagan world has evolved from the common sense and pragmatism the ancients showed in such matters. I found the costuming and cinematography to be brilliant, and the computer generated images were phenomenal, good show! I attended the movie with a friend who gets a nap or 2 during most flix, and never nodded his head once during Alexander, to me a ringing endorsement if there ever was one. This is one I will definitely have in my library.
