I watched the pilot of this new series almost a year ago (was it that long ago???) and enjoyed it. Good cast: Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Jamie Bamber, and other faces I recognize but don't recall the names.

This was picked up as a series by the Sci Fi Channel and it's described as "edgier and racier" and it is. I think the script is intelligent, the plot exciting, the character depth well drawn out, and most of all, they developed a CULTURE which is plausible. There is a spiritual aspect to the people in this series e.g., a priestess swears in the new president, they have prayerful invocation, etc...

The military culture is similar to RL. And I like the dogfighting scenes because there is no music, just faint drumming, which evokes the sense that space is silent.

The Cylons are more sophisticated now (I never watched the old series, was too young then) as they have human form. It seems that the new form will also pose problems for them as they develop human feelings and irrationality.

    Anyone else watch this series?
