A super patronizing patriot.. I have read alot about him and decided that I would not like to dine with him.
He was a true Athenian snob who said of Macedon, that it was a place where one could not even acquire a decent slave.
If you look carefully at his statue you will see that the sculptor has even put a patch in his gown.
To be fair though, most of the Athenians were either in the pay of Persia or of Phillip.
His polemics against Phillip were a masterful use of propaganda. When Phillip was assassinated the news was said to have been spread first by Demosthenes. If he was in the pay of the Persians, they certainly got their moneys worth.
