As Publius Fabius stepped off ship onto his province of Macedonia et Achaea for the the first time, a sharp blast of freezing cold sea air made him shudder. He hoped that wasn't a bad omen...
However, he didn't have time for thinking about omens, he had an army to investigate and another to raise. Hopefully the governor of Apollonia had gotten his message. If he had followed the instructions enclosed within, the 5 cohorts of the Legion X Doria should be ready for his arrival and the facilities for recruiting and training the auxiliary legion and the cavalry should be almost, if not, completed.
He had confidence in the organisation left behind by the now senior consul and with Lucius Caesar to help in the north, things should be fine, however, the amount of time they had to raise the 15,000 men asked for by the consul was slightly unreasonable but Greece was full of veteran soldiers from the civil war so he should be able to find a decent calibre of soldier.
Nevertheless the praetor wasted little time with checking his accommodation, instead he headed straight for the legionnary barracks to oversee the beginnings of the recruitment drive.
