Greetings Lucius Julius Caesar from Publius Fabius,
I hope this letter finds you well
As you read this letter I will be on my way to picking up the 5 cohorts of the Legio X Doria at Apollonia. My schedule has been hurried along by requests made by the Senior Consul, Aulius Lupus. He will arriving in the province in the next month and wants the following units raised and ready:-
-That a fleet be made ready to transport no less then four legions. (I think the fleets at Thessalonica and Piraeus could easily transport these men)
-That two auxilary legions of natives be raised from the populace of your province under the names Legio I & II Fabii. (costs nothing to raise)
-That one unit of alae miliaria also be raised and prepared for transport.
(800D to raise, 600D to maintain I think)
-That two cohorts of specialists archers are to likewise be raised under the name Legio I Lupii (500D each to raise, 400D each to maintain)
I shall recruit at least one of the auxiliary legions and the alae on my journey to Pellas. Our pet project of a mounted unit shall be put on hold if it gets in the way of raising the archer cohorts, which I shall leave to you if there are enough in your region. Inform me if the case is otherwise. If I do not get all the auxiliaries we need on my way to Athens, I plan to make a quick sojourn to the Peloponnese where I can maybe get some Laconians.
Again if there is anything you think needs to be brought to my attention, do not hesitate to write me.
May the gods protect you
Publius Fabius
Praetor
