    ...especially his work on "Beyond Rangoon" and "Gladiator" with Lisa Gerrard. Both of those musical scores made me sit up and take notice.

    Alan Silvestri is a second favorite, notably his score on "Contact".

    As far as actual soundtracks go, I have a certain fondness for the soundtrack to "Top Gun". :)
