Got a chance to see, Napoleon Dynamite (2004), this weekend.
Worth the watch...the humor is bizarre, but the non-usuage of profanity with a movie that is set in high school is really interesting. Sometimes the filmmakers try too hard to be an 80s film...often mixing several 80s type genre conventions into their film...but any movie that trys to be a lot like "Nerds" and "Sixteen Candles" amongst other 80s classics is cool in my book. Very clever.
Quotes...
Deb: What are you drawing?
Napoleon Dynamite: A liger.
Deb: What's a liger?
Napoleon Dynamite: It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.
Teacher: Your current event, Napoleon.
Napoleon Dynamite: Last week, Japanese scientists explaced... placed explosive detonators at the bottom of Lake Loch Ness to blow Nessie out of the water. Sir Godfrey of the Nessie Alliance summoned the help of Scotland's local wizards to cast a protective spell over the lake and its local residents and all those who seek for the peaceful existence of our underwater ally.
Napoleon Dynamite: I caught you a delicious bass.
