With Oliver Stone-induced Alexander fever now sweeping the globe, here's a short article (but with two nice photos) from the online publication Persian Journal, which serves to remind us that from the Iranian perspective, Alexander was just another rapacious outsider who came, saw, conquered, and left ruin in his wake.

This Persian Journal looks like a publication worth bookmarking, however, what with the increasing centrality of Iran in international politics. It seems to reflect a liberal orientation -- even the moderate President Mohammed Khatami is referred to as "Iran's mullah President," which he admittedly is. It runs occasional pieces on the country's archaeological and cultural sites, and if you ever wake up in the morning with an inexplicable hankering to know what today's weather is in Abadan, this is the place to find out.
