We have an entourage walking to the ship, including me, Paton, the Prince and Princess, and a couple of guards/crew members. The wind is starting to whip up around us. I am glad I replaited my hair this morning and tucked it down my top. A few whisps have escaped, but not enough to bother me. Every so often, Paton and I exchange glances along the way. After last night, I am beginning to see a little more potential in the situation. I hope once we are back home in Crete, we may have a meal together again.
We soon reach the ship and board. It appears as though all is in readiness, but I do not see the captain right away.
"Lady Admiral, welcome aboard. Prince, Princess," the first mate greets us. "And..."
"Paton," Paton interjects.
"Thank you. Where is Captain Georgios?" I ask.
"He is a...he'll be with you shortly."
It is just then that I see our captain, unhunching himself from leaning over the railing near the bow.
"It is going to be a rough voyage for that one," I state out loud to no one in particular.
I turn and see Paton looking a little squeemish himself already. I get the sense that he is not one who is entirely comfortable on the sea himself.
"If you will excuse me, it's time to get this boat out of port. Please make yourselves comfortable for the voyage," I say to him and the Prince and Princess.
The first mate and I move towards the bow and Georgios. A ship is only as good as its crew, and we have one of the best. However, I know we will be sailing into stormy seas. I pray we have safe passage.
