I think the idea of getting rid of the crosses was kind of misunderstood. I think it was the blatant use of religious materials and icons for use other then for the traditional burial crosses. Do you remember when the south judge was arrested for refusing to remove the 10 commandments from the courthouse lawn? I think the whole idea comes from the idea that there is a freedom of religion, but at the same time there is a freedom FROM religion as well.
