At first no one else joined in with his song. In fact, several of the drinkers seemed to be a little uncomfortable and appeared to want Harald to stop. He was getting a little dispirited that his efforts to liven up the tavern were going unappreciated.
But just as his voice was started to fade and the song started to fade into an embarassed silence the dogs joined in. With renewed energy he raised his voice to match the howls from the dogs.
Putting fingers in her ears, Amasaluntha skipped away from him to the bar, leaving Harald unstable and unbalanced without anything to lean on anymore. The dogs started to run around his feet so he was singing and swaying and trying to avoid stepping on the dogs. Harald's face reddened as he realised he must look something of a fool. But he kept having to dance around the dogs and they nipped his ankles when he stopped singing. Let's see how long he could keep this up...
