    The Maya's kept and still keep a stingless bee, called Kolel Kab or Huna'an Kab. These bees are sacred and so is the honey that they produce. The quantity of honey that they make is far less then that of the European Honeybees.. but because this honey is known to have more medicinal qualities it is the most favorite. The bees also have their own God and protector: Ah Mucan Cab. These bees are kept in hollow treetrunks in a so called "nahil cab" (bee house) with a special rooftop.
