I've been thinking long and hard about how to do RP here in Babylon. So far we have two groups up, but neither one would seem to satisfy your needs for an area in which to play.
So, the nimble (some would say erratic, but we won't listen to them, will we? *G*) brain has been figuring a way to encompass LOTs of different ideas, in LOTs of different time periods, with LOTs of different "nationalities", and genres, if you will.
The primary challenge we're faced with in Babylon is the awesome breadth of the subject! One could quite happily focus on a minuscule part of the whole for a lifetime and still have much to learn!
In that vein, what I would like to propose is an umbrella group (such as I proposed at the beginning when we started envisioning the possibilites that the groups feature gave us) called... tada! drum roll, please!... EMPIRES.
Why "Empires"? Well, think about it... we have the Babylonian, Parthian, Hittite, Median, Assyrian, etc. etc. etc. empires to deal with, yes?
I'm not suggesting that we necessarily "have" to set it up the following way, but while we're in our infancy here, perhaps this would give us a great way to start...
Under Empires would be the following boards (this is not all encompassing--just off the top of my head so you get the idea):
The Hittites
The Assyrians
The Babylonians
The Medes
The Parthians
On any of these boards could be "storyline" threads for RP. ANY RP associated with the specific peoples/empires is fair game, whether historical, fantasy, or whatever.
I have to say that one of the main ideas behind this is keeping the number of Groups small at first. Frankly, there's no sense in having a lot of "small" groups with only one storyline going... the framework of a Group is large and meant to encompass LOTs of information.
Certainly later, if a particular area takes off and outgrows its place in Empires, it can move on to become a separate group all on its own!
What do folks think?
