I'm happy to have found this little gathering. In this place I am Gar Zhou, but in another I am Gary Warner. I have been using the Internet to learn about haiku since the early 90s, when I edited the first electronic journal of haiku, Dogwood Blossoms.
More recently I have continued to learn about haiku by reading printed haiku magazines, and exchanging emails and letters with people I've met at the two Haiku North America conferences I have attended.
My website, http://www.haikuworld.org/ , is a place for haiku readers, poets, and publishers to discover one another. Please stop by some time and let me know what you think.
You can also learn about many haiku contests, or participate in our monthly contest, the Shiki Monthly Kukai. That one is especially fun as the poets are the judges themselves.
My haiku have been published in Modern Haiku, Frogpond, Bottle Rockets, The Heron's Nest, Mainichi Daily News, and South by SouthEast, but I am just a beginner looking for other beginners with whom to exchange ideas and poems.
