Living in an inn that doesn't actually exist anywhere has its ups and its downs. On the plus side, the rent is virtually non-existent, tax collectors can't figure out which province has jurisdiction, and there's always a band of brave adventurers around for entertainment.
On the less-than-plus side, assorted creatures tend to expect drinks on the house and die suddenly, demon blood leaves a hard to manage stain on stable walls, and there's always a band of brave adventurers around for annoyance.
Sam was having a hard time figuring out on which side this fellow landed. On one hand, he certainly seemed pleasant, and was pretty talkative and forthright for a samurai, and he did seem to have a dragon for a friend. On the other hand, there was a good possibility he was a spy, since he was pleasant and forthright, but also clarivoyant if he knew Sam had a message for Monkey God, since Sam himself had only figured that out a few minutes ago when he'd seen the insignia on the assassin's blade. *Hmmmmmm*
A good test of any man was always what he revealed about himself while doing mundane work, so he handed the arrival a shovel and started dragging the assassin's body toward the back door.
"Grab the Hunter, will you?" he asked as he rolled the body with one boot. The sooner he got this one under six feet of dirt near the dragon shrine out back, the better he'd feel. If what he suspected was true, the ultimate foe facing Monkey God and his band had the annoying tendency of bringing back the dead at inopportune times.
"Now, as to this dragon tale, well, on one particular celebration of Great-Great-Great-Grandfather Kubla Kai Goryeo's journey with Temujin, or was that Shaka Khan Goryeo's journey with Kublai Khan.....?"
