Mei-Li felt exacerbation rise in the back of her throat as the party gathered along the banks to watch the flailing women. Sankira quirked an eyebrow toward her and she rolled her eyes without comment.
"Fine," she muttered, gathering her silk skirts around her. With a deep breath, she inhaled through the channels of her Qi, feeling her body lift slightly of the ground. Her dainty silk slippers hovered off the ground as she moved past the party and over the waters.
Nice. she heard Sankira comment in admiration as she floated over the water to the sinking woman. She smiled to herself, pleased at her elder brothers approval. Her mother, Lei-Zi, goddess of thunder, taught her early on how to harness the power of the air. With sufficient breath and open Qi, it was easy enough to master.
Pulling up her delicate sleeves, Mei-Li reached into the water and grasped a slim forearm sinking below the blue water.
"Up you go," Mei-Li said smiling. With additional breath, she raised the drowning woman out of the water. Placing a hand around her waist, she ushered her to the shore and the waiting party.
