Huanbei Shang City
Written up by Archaeology Magazine, Huanbei Shang City is a walled city of the mid-Shang dynasty. Its name translates as "north of Huan river". Dating is ca. 1450-1250 B.C. Walls were made of rammed earth, and the territory enclosed covered 1160 acres of land. It is not definitely known if this city was the Yinxu that was the last dynastic capital city of the Shang. While this city is large, capitals were moved around often in Chinese history. This city is apparently older than Yinxu, and may possibly be Xiang, another city in the records also located in what is now the current-day district of Anyang.
