    I don't know the circumstances of the coronation, but William doesn't look a nice character. Look at the way his hand claws the crown, his other hand holding a sword, hidden by some cloth ( could that be the Bayeux Tapestry, Merlin?) An incense-burner fallen to the floor, a monk on the left looking scarily at some Norman soldier. The artist wasn't in a friendly disposition towards William. By the way, it is very likely that Napoleon studied the battle of Hastings thoroughly. He wrote a book about Alexander the Great and learned from the descriptions of his battles.
