It's intricate and amazing, I collect them. Well, that means I have 3 lol. If I could afford 20 I'd buy more! Speaking of which, a friend just went to India (it's very close to where I live now) and purchased some more reasonably priced modern ones. They look fantastic too, are only maybe 100 years old if that though.
The tradition of this artform is what really amazes me. They still teach it, and hand down the skills through generations. A very good freind of mine Malik, from Kashmir, paints them in his spare time. He is absolutely amazing to watch, the hand control is just.. I dont even know how to explain it. Superb. In fact, next week I'm scheduled to visit him and his wife and I'll see if I can't take a picture of him painting one! Traditions in art are very important to me. Something that we must treasure before it is lost.
