I've recently read this Chinese fable, that was very odd and slightly mobid...ok, maybe not so "slightly", but it's suppose to be "children's reading", so hold on to your hats!
The Waring Body
Finally, after a long period of unrest, a body flung itself into an all out rage. The Hands and Feet were prepetually jealous of their peers, the Ears, Mouth, and Eyes.
"Our brothers do nothing all day but enjoy themselves," complained the Hands. "The Ears, spend all day listening to beautiful sounds and fine music. They idle all day, sitting on the head, and what do they do? Nothing!"
The Feet responded, "Thats not the all of it. The Eyes spend all day watching beautiful things. Savoring the scenery which we cannot. While we trample over the landscape, they mearly lounge lazily between the nose."
"The worst of," finished the Hands, "is that the mouth, does the least amount of work, and enjoys itself the most. We spend all day working and picking things up, while the lazy mouth spends the day consuming fragrant and rich foods, doing nothing but for itself! Out of all the organs, he is the laziest, just as I am the most hard working!"
"I beg to differ." The Feet broke in, "you may pick up and work with objects, but I have to carry the whole body to and fro. If it were not for me, you would have nothing to work."
The outraged Hands could find nothing to retort and brooded angrily in silence. However, when he finally couldn't take it anymore, the Hands, in a violent fit, grabed a kife. First the ears were cut off and eyes gouged out, the toung and feet severed from their stems. With such a heavy loss of blood, everything ceased to function, and the Hands learned that they could not survive on their own.
