After his sojourn in the Syrian desert and his healing at the hands of the friendly and generous Bedouin, Alli, AfonsHenri, Tribune of the Augusta Syriaca Alae, was left, at his own request in Damascus, saying farewell to his saviour and new friend Alli. Alli had some other business to attend to. He also had grew quiet fond of this huge (7 foot) red-bearded giant of a man who unlike the Romans he had met previously does not have a haughty air about him.
It did not take AfonsHenri long to arrange for travel with another caravan, going to Antioch, to join.
It took some convincing that he is the tribune of the unit as the decurion in charge had no word about his coming. A crumbled piece of papyrus with the seal of Tyleerius Caelius Flavianus, the Vicarius Orientali, however served to satisfy centurion who is aware of the presence of the Vicarius in town.
AfonsHenri immediately called for a bath.
