As Hypatia wandered the town looking for food, a job and a place to sleep, she came across the Scriptorium. She had tried to ask a few people for help, but her broken Latin had not helped the conversation. Passing a shop with scrolls on the shelves, Hypatiua stopped and tried to read them.
I wonder if they have any greek authors? Or anything in greek? she thought as she quietly entered the shop.
Once inside, speaking Greek, she started asking for some scrolls in Greek, and ended up asking for a job. By now she was tired, hungry and exhausted.
"I need somewhere to live, a place to sleep, some food and a job. But my Latin is so bad that noone understands me. Heck, you probably dont even understand me. But I can read and write. Do you need a copyist?."
The stress of the past week as a slave was catching up to her and Hypatia started crying.
