This may be a simple question, but I have never really read into William the Conqueror too deeply. I am thinking about the situation with Edgar Ætheling. He was the rightful crown to the throne of England, as he was the last heir of the West Saxon dynasty. I think that I already know the answer, but why wasn't there more resistance in his name? I beleive it to be duie to William's military prowess, and the complete subjugation of the Saxons in certian areas of England. William, although he had small rebellions to put down, was already too strong to have a serious campagin against him.
