The only thing Alexander contributed to Egypt was to free it from Persia and that was a walk through. The Egyptians exchanged their Persian masters for Macedonians quite happily choosing the lesser of two evils. In return they got Alexandria and a foreign occupation that lasted until it was replaced by a Roman one. Though there was some hellenization in the higher circles, to the people of Egypt, the name of their master didn’t mean much.
Alexander contributed very little to any of the cultures which he conquered; it was rather they who were expected to contribute to him. That was simply the way of the times and would be for some time to come.
