What does a technical writer do? Imagine taking a character (your user), and having to explain a story (the procedures, concepts, hardware/software) without ever mentioning the character directly. Actually it was a first time to everybody. Our Multimedia department was brand new, our Dictionary department was brand new, our encyclopaedia project was also a first time... you got the picture *S* anyway, I did it! I kept complaining to my co-worker, the one responsible for the project (who had "the big picture") and he kept on reassuring me and saying I could do it, and explaining things a little further. He was a difficult person to deal with, very arrogant (he finally was compelled to dismiss) but in that particular case he was very helpful (I suppose because he would have hated to do it himself LOL). Of course, since then, this kind of work is more like a routine.

Soon, however, I will have to revise a work done to put online, it's a French short grammar, and, as you may guess, it asks for a different language then when writing a grammar for a book. There will be windows opening with some information, etc.
