    Indeed! I've assisted in the planting of chestnut seedlings via the American Chestnut Foundation, and with a bit of fortuitious luck, it may well be possible to save this tree, a tree both useful and a dramatic part of a landscape no longer seen.

    As more areas are planted with the seedlings, researchers learn more about the habitat needs of these trees, which is all to the good for future plantings. I'm planning on getting involved again this year.
