    Thank you all for some rather educated clarification. Ever since I was young, I remember that the hobbits called these beings "goblins" in the Hobbit. That is why it always confused me when I started reading the trilogy, because it didn't seem to fir together. I was starting to assume that it was one of those instances where Tolkien was trying to be ambiguous(Tom Bombadill).
    Now I never count anything out in life, it doesn't make sense to do so. So perhaps there is a possibility that orcs and goblins are two different beings derived from two different beings. It does make some sense, and it seems like something that would be done by Tolkien. But then again I'll have to agree with Thiudareiks. I have read tons of Tolkien and I never once remember any allusion to goblins and dwarves. But as I said, I'm not ruling anything out. I'll leave it to the well informed and respected member of our group Dravidia to convince me.
