Xaire Friends!
Polidarius Ictinus at your service. For those who migrated across from the earlier Ancient Sites, perhaps you may remember me although the dust of time has drifted upon such memories of pleasant times. Fortunately I have found my way back to these new sites and am eagerly looking forward to becoming involved once more.
My name Polidarius I have taken from the Hero of Homer's Illiad. For those who have not read that worthy epic, Polidarius was the Son of Ascelpius and whom, together with his brother Machon, went to the War against Troy. Machon was said to be the Ancient Father of Surgical Medicine whilst Polidarius, the more gentle of the two, was said to be the father of Herbal Medicine. It is interesting to note that of the two, Polidarius returned from the war whereas Machon was killed in Combat.
For myself, I am currently serving within the Defence Force, but am also a qualified Herbalist and I hope to finish my Doctorate at University on the use of Herbal Medicine in the Ancient Times. My interest in Greek Mythology started even at a very young age where I felt that I was called by the God Apollo. Indeed even today I sometimes here his voice and have pledged my life within his service.
Other than that, if there is anything you wish to know, please do not hesitate to ask and I shall look forward to meeting more of you as the days roll past.
The Blessings of the Sun-Lord upon you
Polidarius
