Hello all, I just realized I hadn't seen this book in here yet, and thought I'd drop it off. For those who insist on factual non-fictional bookreading, sorry. This is fiction, though based in a bit of reality.
The book is called The Red Tent, and is one of my favorites. I read it first about 2-3 years ago now, but have reread it several times since then. It's story line is of the Biblical charactor of Dina. Don't worry, if your not into biblical accounts, this shouldn't affect anything. I'm quite an, er, irreligious person myself.
The story follows the lead charactor through her trials and tribulations as growing up Jacob's only daughter. The story is as much about her 4 mothers as it is about Dina herself. She becomes a midwife through the teachings and observations of her mothers, and is a valuable resource to me to peer inside the life of an ancient woman. | |
That image should link to amazon, and no, I do not have an account there. Just a good link if you want to read more about it including alot of customer reviews is all. (have personally had some probs with amazon myself, and just don't think they are so wonderful for credit card safety). Well I hope I've turned on someone to this book, I swear it is a good read. Very engrossing. Though there was a certain point in the group that I felt was dissapointing (writing wise) it was most definitely worth it. Very good story telling!
