I was disappointed by this movie. Ms Kingston was great but the costumes of the Romans were terrible. It was as if the costume designer never saw the BACK of a General's armor and left it off entirely.

The soldiers were wearing chain mail and I have no problem with that, but did anyone else notice that they were all Centurions???

The helmets were awful and the sheilds were only correct at the last battle.

The saddest thing is that England has some great re-enactors and I wonder why they were not used.

I thought the "parental warning" on PBS meant we'd have a lot of sex and violence like in "I, Claudius" but it was not to be.

The violence was all that was shown whether the "Braveheart" rip off battle scenes or the rather prolonged whipping and rape scene.

I did, however, like the actor protraying Suetonius. he seemed to me to be the type of professional Roman military man who won the empire in the first place.

He looks like he'd make a GREAT Caesar!

One video I would not want to own.
